Privacy Policy

Effective September 12, 2026 · Applies to the PouchCut iOS and watchOS apps published by LifeBuddy.

Short version: PouchCut has no accounts and no server of its own. Your logs live on your device and in your private iCloud. We never read Apple Health data. Anonymous usage analytics and App Store purchase records are the only data that leaves your device, and neither contains your pouch logs.

1. Data you enter in the app

Pouch logs, cravings, journal notes, your product and price, goal, wake and bed times, motivation text and badges are stored in a local database on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled, the same data is synced through Apple's CloudKit to your private iCloud database, which only your devices can read. We cannot access it.

Widgets, the Watch app, Live Activities and Siri read a compact summary (today's count, limit, next allowed time, savings) stored in the app's shared container on your device and, for the Watch, sent directly between your paired devices.

2. Data we do not collect

No name, email, phone number or account. You never sign up.
No Apple Health data. The app does not request HealthKit access.
No location, contacts, photos or microphone.
No advertising identifiers and no ads.

3. Analytics

PouchCut uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to count anonymous app events such as "onboarding completed", "paywall viewed" or "pouch logged", together with device model, OS version, country and app version. Some events carry coarse settings so we can see which features work: the goal type and taper strategy you picked, the plan length in weeks, your starting daily count, whether a craving was ridden out and which tool you used, the badge name, the stats period and the export format. Events never include individual pouch timestamps, journal text, product or price, motivation text or any free-text you enter. Analytics is tied to a random app-instance identifier generated by Firebase; Firebase may also record approximate country-level location and automatic events such as app open and first launch. There is no in-app switch to turn analytics off in this version; deleting the app resets the identifier and stops collection. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Crash reports are not collected.

4. Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. PouchCut uses RevenueCat to observe purchase state (which plan is active, trial status) so the app can unlock Pro and we can see aggregate subscription numbers. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and the App Store transaction; it never receives your logs. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. Refunds and billing are handled by Apple.

5. Notifications

All reminders are scheduled locally on your device from your own plan and logs. No push server is involved and no notification content leaves the device.

6. Your controls

Export: Settings → Data → Export JSON or CSV gives you a full copy.
Delete: Settings → Data → Erase all data removes everything on the device and in your iCloud database. Deleting the app removes local data; iCloud data can also be removed from iPhone Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Analytics: Analytics runs from first launch without a consent screen because it is anonymous and not used for advertising or cross-app tracking, so the iOS "Allow Apps to Request to Track" setting does not apply to it. To stop analytics, delete the app; reinstalling creates a fresh identifier with no link to the old one.
Purchase records: RevenueCat keeps an anonymous app user ID and your App Store transactions for as long as needed to manage your subscription. Email us to request deletion of that record and we will process it within 30 days.

7. Children

PouchCut is intended for adults who already use nicotine products and is rated 17+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Your rights

We do not hold your name, email or any account. The only records that exist outside your device are the anonymous analytics identifier described in section 3 and the RevenueCat purchase record described in section 4; neither can be looked up by name. You can reset the first by deleting the app and ask us to delete the second by email. Residents of the EU, UK, California and other regions with privacy laws retain all rights those laws provide. Email us with any question and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the app will show a notice and the effective date above will be updated.
