Terms of Service

1. Purpose and Effectiveness of These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the rights, obligations, and responsibilities, as well as other necessary matters, between Lifebuddy (“the Company”) and users, in connection with the use of the Belog app (“Service”) provided by the Company. By agreeing to these Terms, users can use the Service. These Terms become effective by being posted through the Service interface, application, website, or other methods.

2. Definitions

The key terms used in these Terms are defined as follows:

  1. “Service” refers to all features provided by the Company, including writing English diaries, AI-based sentence feedback, word recommendations, and related functionalities.
  2. “User” means any individual who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
  3. “Account” refers to the login credentials created by the User directly or through a third party (Google, Apple, etc.) to use the Service.
  4. “Content” refers to any information that the User writes, stores, or transmits within the Service, including text, images, AI feedback, recommended words, etc.

3. Posting and Revision of Terms

The Company posts these Terms on the app or website where the Service is provided so that Users can check them at any time. If necessary, the Company may revise these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable laws. Any revised Terms will be announced through the app or website before their effective date, and become effective on that date. If a User continues to use the Service after the revised Terms come into effect, the User is deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms.

If a User does not agree to the revised Terms, they may stop using the Service and delete their account.

4. Formation of the Service Use Agreement and Accounts

In order to use the Service, an account may be required. Users can sign up via third-party logins, such as Google or Apple. When creating an account, Users must provide accurate information as required by the Company. The Company is not responsible for any disadvantages arising from inaccurate information.

The Company may refuse or subsequently delete/terminate an account application in the following cases:

  1. If another person’s name or information is used without authorization
  2. If false information is provided or the content required by the Company is not complied with
  3. If the account is intended for use that violates applicable laws or is otherwise inappropriate

5. Description and Use of the Service

  1. Diary Writing Function: Users can write English diaries and store them on the server for future reference.
  2. AI Feedback: Users can receive various feedback such as grammar corrections, expression improvements, and stylistic advice through AI for the English sentences they write.
  3. Word Recommendations: If desired, AI can provide recommended words or phrases, and Users can save this information to the server if they wish.
  4. Backup and Restoration: Diaries, feedback, recommended words, etc., are stored on the server for the User’s convenience and can be restored after the app is deleted and reinstalled.

The Company makes continuous efforts to provide a stable Service but may temporarily suspend the Service in unavoidable circumstances such as natural disasters or technical issues. In such cases, the Company will provide prior notice or inform Users promptly afterwards.

6. Protection of Personal Information

The Company collects the following personal information as necessary to provide the Service:

  1. Email address
  2. Display name (nickname)
  3. Date of registration
  4. Information on login provider (e.g., Google, Apple)

The collected personal information is managed in accordance with the Company’s “Privacy Policy.” Users must check and agree to the Privacy Policy before using the Service. The Company processes personal information within the scope permitted by applicable laws and obtains User consent where necessary.

7. AI Analysis Service

  1. AI Processing: To analyze a User’s diary content, it may be sent to the Company’s server or a third-party AI service. The analysis results (feedback, recommended words, etc.) are stored for the User’s learning convenience.
  2. Service Fees: For certain AI processing, the Company may be required to pay usage fees to third parties. In the event of excessive use, the Company may impose restrictions on usage or introduce a pricing policy. Should a pricing policy be introduced, Users will be clearly notified in advance.
  3. Limitations on Accuracy: The Company does not guarantee absolute accuracy of the AI-provided feedback, which is offered solely for reference. Whether to use the suggested corrections or recommended words is at the User’s sole discretion.

8. User Obligations

Users must not engage in the following:

  1. Stealing or using another person’s personal information without authorization
  2. Using the Service for illegal or inappropriate purposes
  3. Altering, deleting, copying, or distributing Service content without permission
  4. Interfering with the normal operation of the Service (e.g., hacking, server attacks)
  5. Any acts that violate applicable laws or these Terms

If a User’s actions cause damage to the Company or a third party, the User shall bear all civil and criminal liability.

9. Restrictions on Service Use and Termination

  1. Restrictions on Use: If a User violates these Terms or any applicable law, or if they use the Service in an improper manner, the Company may temporarily or permanently restrict the User’s access without prior notice.
  2. Termination by User: A User may delete their account at any time via the in-app account deletion function or by contacting customer support. Please note that once an account is deleted and a certain period has passed, recovery may be impossible.
  3. Termination by the Company: If a User significantly violates these Terms or causes serious disruption to the Company’s operations, the Company may, after prior notice, terminate the agreement.

10. Disclaimer

The Company is not liable if it is unable to provide the Service due to force majeure events including natural disasters, war, terrorism, hacking, server failures, communication outages, or the intentional or negligent acts of third parties. Additionally, the Company bears no responsibility for any damages caused by a User’s own negligence (e.g., sharing accounts, leaking passwords).

The AI feedback and recommended words provided by the Company are for reference only. The Company is not responsible for any outcomes resulting from the use of such information.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Company does not make any warranties beyond what is explicitly stated in these Terms. To the extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the User’s use of the Service.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and the Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any disputes arising from the use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court with jurisdiction over the Company’s registered address, unless otherwise stipulated by applicable laws.

13. Supplementary Provisions

These Terms take effect on February 9, 2025. The Company may establish additional terms or separate agreements if necessary, and in the event of any conflict between such additional terms or agreements and these Terms, the separate agreement takes precedence.
